A division of Toshiba, is engaged in the development of new media, today announced the launch of the latest hard drive form factor 1.8-inch. They have a rotational speed equal to 5400 r / min and a huge capacity for such small sizes - 80 and 120 GB. These drives are designed specifically for use in mobile PCs and have a popular interface SATA, providing much greater data transfer compared to the legacy IDE interface.
Both new architecture uses a 2.5- inch drives from Toshiba, exhibited at CES- 2008. According to Vice- predizenta company, Maciek Brzeski, the spread of the HDD in the notebook will be a very wide. The company plans to significantly increase the capacity of the HDD, thus permanently displacing the old 2.5-inch hard drives from the market and significantly reducing the popularity of SSD. Both hard drives were represented at the summit Toshiba Intel Mobility Summit, held in Shanghai from 26 to 29 February 2008.
